It's the same kind of dream as when you're trying to fire a gun and it won't fire. You s-q-u-e-e-e-e-z-e the trigger, but nothing happens.
So what are these dreams trying to tell us? Bottom line: there is either something going on in your life that you want--or need--to get away from, or there is something or someone that you need to run toward, but you don't have what's needed to do it. Maybe you are dealing with an addiction, or you are in a bad relationship, and you need to run away from the situation. Or perhaps you need to run toward the Lord, and are having problems getting your heart right for that run.
Running the Race
Often these dreams address the dreamer's spiritual condition. The Bible calls our journey with the Lord a walk, and some other times, a run. The writer of the book of Hebrews wrote, "Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." When we dream that we lack the strength or endurance to run, our dreams often speak of the condition of our hearts: for example, that our love toward the Lord has grown slightly (or more) cold.
The question then becomes, What do I do when I have such a dream? First, ask yourself: What is going on in my life that I need to change or get away from and I'm having a hard time doing it? When you sense an answer to this question--if it's the situation the dream is addressing--you'll know it. If this isn't the solution for the dream puzzle, ask yourself if you're currently having a hard time running the spiritual race in your life, or if in fact, you're not running it well--or even at all--at the present time.
As Always, It's All About Love
We write a lot about the purposes for all kinds of dreams in Dream Interpretation Toolkit but let's say it again: The Lord loves us, and He uses dreams to prick our hearts and call us back to Him. He wants to be our Friend and Father, and protect us from everything the enemy has planned against us.
If you're currently having a hard time running the race toward the Lord, it's easy to fix. Repent and commit to again run the race set before you, and ask Him to give you more endurance for the next leg of the journey.
Sweet dreams!
