YOUR DREAM OF THE PRESIDENT IS PROBABLY NOT A WARNING, BUT IS LIKELY SYMBOLIC
As a president presides over a nation, the appearance of the president in your dream is likely representative for circumstances (including a person of authority) that are currently ruling over your life. (Read more: People in Dreams.)
For example, Vicky enjoyed politics, and was always glued to television to watch the news during elections. On what might seem to be a totally different line of thought, Vicky was married to a difficult man. He often verbally berated her, and after a few years, she found herself consumed with constant thoughts of how to please him and what to do in order to get along with him. She was at her wits end with him, waking during the night thinking of mean things he had said to her over the years. During this time, she had a dream in which the president of the U.S. was beating her up.
The Lord used Vicky's prominent thoughts--politics and her husband's verbal abuse--to speak to her about the way she was dealing with her husband's dysfunction.
The Bouncing-Off Principle is a major key to
correctly understanding dreams.
In this case, the president was representative for the way she had allowed her husband's verbal berating to become the focus of her life, the "ruling spirit" of her thoughts. As He often does, the Lord "bounced off" what Vicky was thinking about during the day (politics) and about circumstances occurring in her life (her husband's abuse) to talk to her about something spiritual.
These dreams usually occur when political matters are on your mind, and particularly at times when you're thinking about it just before going to bed, like in the situation with Vicky.
For example, in Matthew 16:6-12, the Scriptures recount a conversation between Jesus and His disciples. They were in a ship, crossing the Sea Of Galilee, when the guys realized they'd forgotten to bring bread and were discussing that fact. The Lord couldn't hear them, being on the other end of the boat, but He sensed their thoughts. He "bounced off" their thoughts about bread and said, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
The disciples responded in their normal way (which we all do) and thought He was talking about yeast, because they had forgotten to bring bread. It likely didn't make a lot of sense to them at the time because He was always talking in puzzles.
DREAMS OF THE PRESIDENT'S ASSASSINATION ARE COMMON
Dreams of the president being assassinated occur more often at times when the dreamer is displeased with the president's current policies. I did an internet search for "dreams of the president being killed" and pulled up over 44 million results, so if you are having such dreams, know you're not alone.
When they have these dreams, folks often believe they are being given insight into what will happen, or could happen, if they don't intervene by calling the Secret Service or gathering with those who pray. If you're not in a position that the Secret Service will take your call, chances are very good that your dream is symbolic, and the Lord is talking to you about your own heart issue, because He doesn't want you to give a toe-hold to the enemy of your soul.
ARE YOU ANGRY WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS AUTHORITY IN YOUR LIFE?
So if you're thinking about the president, or the elections, you could easily have a dream about him.
And if you're angry with someone who has authority in your life, such as your husband, boss, or pastor, and having thoughts that you wish they weren't in your life, you could dream of the president being killed. In such cases, the Lord would be using the president to represent someone you feel is "president" of your life in an area. The symbolic representation of him being killed would mean that in your heart, you wanted them out of your life, or "killed."
Another situation I've seen represented by a president being killed in a dream is when a dreamer "kills" a bad attitude, intention or motive in their own life the day of the dream. For example, one could realize they were acting or thinking in a way that was pandering their own bad attitude, and make a heart decision to repent and work to actively change. Perhaps they might see that they had been controlled by this kind of thing for a long time. In this case, they "killed" the "president" that had been the controlling spirit in their life.
WHAT TYPE OF WEAPON IS USED IN THE DREAM?
Another clue to the dream would be the manner in which the president was killed. A gun, for instance, can mean powerful words; a shotgun can indicate "blasting" someone in many directions; and a knife often indicates cutting words were spoken. The dreamer should ask, "Did I blast a person in an authority position today, or speak powerful words, or make cutting remarks against them?"
So, think more than twice before you believe your dream is the Lord telling you secrets about the president. Look deeply into your own heart and see if He is talking to you about your attitude toward someone in authority, and if so, be sure and deal with it in an effective manner.
In the meantime, be sure to vote!
Sweet dreams,
Sylvia
