Others think their dear family member is coming to them in a dream, bringing a message, and want to know what the deceased person is trying to communicate to them. Dreaming of someone who is no longer alive can be an upsetting experience, for sure.
THE PERSON IN YOUR DREAMS IS SYMBOLIC FOR YOU
For example, my mother went to Heaven some years ago, but I dream of her on a regular basis. Mother was an incredible woman and a strong Christian, but she dealt with fear her entire life. From time-to-time, when I am struggling with fear myself (fear of any kind, including worry) I dream of Mom. Often in these dreams, she has come back to life. This has happened so many times now that in my dreams I think, "Has Mom gone or not? Has she come back to life again?"
You see, Mom often symbolizes the part of me that is struggling with some kind of fear. Even though I may have effectively prayed against fear previously (meaning my fear "died"), before you know it, a situation will trigger my old way of thinking. Then I find myself either worrying about something (which is fear of the future) or looking under the bed for hobgoblins, and I have a dream that Mom (who symbolizes the fearful part of me) is alive again.
WHAT ABOUT DREAMS OF GRANDPARENTS YOU NEVER KNEW?
When you dream of someone who has died, remember the guideline for all people in your dreams: they usually represent a part of you, a characteristic that you have in common with that person. So don't be afraid or concerned if you dream of family members or others who have passed. Just interpret the dream to get understanding of the Lord's message to you through it, and deal with it as you should--in prayer, actions or both.
