Since I'm a proponent that chickens came before eggs, lets take a look at the little biddies first.
WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF, CHICKEN?
Chicken dreams, when interpreted, always give me one of those "Aha!" moments. So far, without fail, every time I hear a dream that has chicks, chickens, fried chicken, chicken salad, and any other way the Colonel brings them to the table, the dream is addressing fear. It's one of those slang things the Lord likes to do in dreams; He's saying you are currently being "chicken" about something.
Even if the chicks are adorable little creatures, and you love them in the dream, that doesn't make them a good thing. It just means you think the fear you are dealing with is a good thing.
You'll note that chickens are usually yellow in color also, and yellow is another slang expression that means fear. In dreams, they don't necessarily have to be yellow, but they still symbolize fear.
EGGS SYMBOLIZE NEW IDEAS OR THOUGHTS
Now let's look at dreams that have eggs in them. Think about it: what would eggs symbolize? They are the potential for new life, about to hatch. They symbolize new ideas, new thoughts.
The new potential can be good or bad. Let's talk about the negative aspects first. For example, if you are going through a rough spot in life, and make a bad decision, you might have a dream about eggs. The eggs could be dark, black, or even (yuck) snake or lizard eggs. This would mean your new idea is definitely not a good idea.
Or, the eggs could be brightly colored, or white. In Dream Interpretation Toolkit, we discuss practically every color in the Easter basket, and you need to consider the color of the eggs in your dream. For example, since white can mean both right thoughts or attitudes as well as religious ones (Jesus called the religious people of that day "white-washed tombs"), white eggs in dreams can symbolize either new, godly ideas or new, religious ones.
Have you had a recent dream of chickens or eggs? Leave a comment and tell us about it.
Happy Easter!
